Fortnite contains the most interesting game story in years

  • I couldn’t name one particular character in Fortnite. I’m incapable of tell you anything in regards to the lore or plot, and even really explain in which the game comes about. Yet somehow Epic’s multiplayer shooter has produced by far the most arresting game narrative I’ve informed about some time — also it’s only getting stronger as Fortnite evolves.
This weekend provided probably the most powerful demonstration of Fortnite Skins storytelling potential yet. At exactly 1:30PM ET on Saturday, a rocket launched from the mountain for the far west from the game’s ever-changing map. The launch has not been a surprise: Epic ended up teasing it for weeks, that has a countdown displayed on certain in-game TVs and also a loud klaxon alarm blaring on the mountain, which had been also you will find an supervillain-style lair. Then, daily before the big event, the developer told players that they can should be around for a specific time if not they’d miss it.
I’m still in the dark about what happened on Saturday afternoon. I, along with a lot of other Fortnite Items players, logged into your game, to observe the rocket launch. (Luckily no-one shot me while I was experiencing the view.) First, the lair lit up having a burst of bright light, so you couldn’t miss it. Then, the rocket sped throughout the sky, a trail of smoke behind it. A few moments later some style of spaceship fell out in the air and, if you do explosions and strange noises, a terrifying crack showed in the night sky.
